You may have seen some of our trustees and volunteers hard at work promoting Home-Start at Nailsea Farmer’s Market on Saturday 20th November. Volunteer Diane Scarborough wrapped 75 adult gifts that had been donated or collected over the last two years, including hand-made knitted items, mugs, candles and other goodies. A further 30 children’s parcels were wrapped too, including bobble hats, cuddly toys and badges.
Volunteer Jane Sleigh said: “The main purpose of the stall was to promote the incredible work of Homestart and volunteers. Val, a volunteer, our Trustee Andrew and I engaged local shoppers and encouraged them to part with their £1 for a strip of raffle tickets for the tombola. They had a one in five chance of winning if their ticket ended in 0 or 5. The children had a free lucky dip! People gave more than a £1 and we sold out of tickets raising a grand total of £134. Most importantly many more people know about the amazing work of Home-Start and we are anticipating some may come forward as volunteers or become a Trustee. Plus, our new ‘hi-vis’ jackets gave us a head start being noticed!”
A huge thank you to all who volunteered for this event.
