As if being a parent isn’t hard enough, we are well aware that being a parent during a pandemic is even more so. For those expecting, birthing or parenting a young baby in lockdown the road has been a rocky one and anxiety and isolation has been heightened at a time when reassurance and supportive connections are so vital to our mental wellbeing.
While we are missing welcoming Mums through the doors of community venues we are pleased to announce that our Mums in Mind peer to peer support group will be moving online from October.
We are open for self referrals and referrals from health professionals for mums with babies between 0 and 12 months in small, online groups. Mums interested in coming along maybe feeling especially isolated or anxious with low mood or an actual diagnosis of low to moderate depression.
By talking with or just listening to other mums and the challenges they are facing it can help bring about perspective and a sense that ‘you are not the only one’. We will look at small things you can do to make changes in your day and your mind that bring a little more sunshine and calm to life in your home. Bring a baby, a cuppa and an open mind to explore wellbeing and relaxation in our small, non-judgemental space whether a first or fouth time mum.
Referrals are always open for Mums in Mind but referrals for the October group running on a Wednesday morning are strongly encouraged before the end of September.
If you would like to join group but are not sure whether you would be able to for any reason please contact me directly by text and we will see if we can help or signpost you to other support options.
