As someone who had recently moved to a new area, not knowing anyone and feeling very isolated I saw a Home-Start advert in the local magazine.
I immediately felt welcomed into the HomeStart family and through the training course made lovely friends with fellow trainee volunteers and the staff.
My HomeStart family are lovely people and I help with being someone to talk to and accompany going out and about exploring activities to take the children to that many of us would find daunting on our own.
It’s great to see a mum grow in confidence coping with parenthood and children excited and happy.
We all may need some help at different times of our lives and HomeStart is a wonderful charity who is there ready to lend a helping hand with those early years of parenting to help parents enjoy family life and get through those trying times.
I thoroughly recommend volunteering. The benefits to you and the family you help are truly wonderful.
