Portishead Bowling Club has raised a whopping £1150 for Home-Start through a series of charity events held over this year’s bowling season. Joy Murray, Home-Start trustee and Bowling Club member told us:
“Our fundraising events are always the culmination of a huge team effort. One of the most popular events is the Cream Tea Day with homemade scones, jam and cream, which follows an afternoon of fun bowls. First there is a silly game of ‘Spider’ the object being to be the owner of the bowl that ends nearest to a giant spider in the middle of the green. This is then followed by 3 or 4 short games where rinks, teams and position in the team are randomly drawn from the hat, ensuring a lovely and lively mix of players and teams. After the cream tea and the presentation of prizes the all-important raffle takes place!”
We’re truly grateful to everyone at the club for supporting us so generously this year.
